Inclusion

Inclusion in education is an education that includes everyone, learning together in schools, colleges and universities.

The reason at fireflies we allow all children the freedom to play and explore relationships with all children from different year groups is we are aware that in class majority of the time is spent in ability groups working on securing development. This is one of the most effective methods for development, but can limit social and emotional development.

By having a range of children from differing year groups and classes at after school club it gives them an opportunity to play together and develop relationships that can support their confidence and independence.

One of the reasons inclusion is so effective is because it allows all children to work to their own strengths and can use their talents to combine and support the other children.

The effective model of inclusion is as follows:iai-inclusion-1_orig.jpg

By allowing the children to be part of a whole we are providing them with the opportunity to support each other and build new relationships.

It is also really positive to see that the children look out for each other and play together in the school day allowing them to form friendships that they may not have previously made without the time spent all together.
